More About Movers
Anchorage
Movers is a company acting in many different roles and providing many different services to a variety of different seafood industry companies.

The activity that allowed Movers to gain prominence in the area of logistics in the Alaska seafood industry was the ability to receive product from a variety of sources and redistribute that product to various points across the United States.

Over the years, this activity evolved into many different variations and, many different roles and services were required. The need for (cold) refrigeration was one of the early requirements. Freight forwarding service was also one of the services required on ‘day one’. As the years passed, we developed an inventory system that allowed us to receive large quantities of product from a variety of sources for a single customer (or multiple customers) and provide that customer with a history of where he sold that product. That history includes to whom the product was sold, what species was sold, what weight grade and quantity was sold, the carrier that was used, and the carrier waybill number used. This information is transmitted daily (or more frequently if required) and it provides the customer with an accurate record of what was bought and sold and what remains to be sold. That record can also be used to verify that all product has been invoiced by the customer to his customer.

We provide support services for Japanese, American, and other international air freight forwarders. These services include refrigeration, receiving a variety of different seafood products on behalf of the air freight forwarder, organizing the product into proper shipping configuration, transferring of the product to the proper air carrier, and labeling of the product as directed by the freight forwarder.

We provide perishable receiving and container loading services for several international air carriers including Federal Express, United Parcel Service, and Nippon Cargo Airlines. We receive and refrigerate the product and work with their operations people to buildup the seafood shipments into the appropriate air carrier containers. The product is then tendered plane side for loading by the air carrier.

We negotiate rates with domestic air carriers for the purpose of trying to keep air carrier rates at a level that will encourage movement of fresh seafood by air. Any positive result of these negotiations is passed back to the user.

We have recently put together an insurance program whereby the user has the option of having most shipping risks covered by shippers insurance as opposed to air carrier declared value coverage.

Our reputation for being creative and getting the job done correctly and efficiently has allowed us to gain a majority market share in moving seafood by air. Equally important, we have been able to attract the type of dedicated person who is driven as though we had a minority market share. This has enabled us to achieve a high degree of trust and support from our customer base.

We look forward to the opportunity to assist you with your seafood shipping needs.

In 2008, Lynden International purchased the assets of Movers, Inc. and is now operating under the name Movers.
